Joint Allocation to the Association for Computing Machinery
In Spring Semester of 2007, with the help of a number of organizations, SIGgame (a gaming Special Interest Group within ACM, the Association of Computing Machinery), resurrected the Tech Tradition of a semester electronic entertainment party and tournament. Over 350 people attended, far exceeding expectations and attendance for similar events in years past. In Fall of 2007, we held our second event, but copyright concerns kept us from having the console games. With PC gaming alone, which had only been about half of the previous semester's attendance, we still managed a turnout of over 250 people. In Spring of '08, after contacting a number of companies and hosts of similar events to ensure copyright compliance, we again were able to have console games, and had an attendance of about 350. In Fall of '08, we achieved an attendance of 400. We'd like to continue this fine tradition and hold this event again this semester. We would like to have a variety of activities, including movies, computer gaming tournaments, console tournaments, and free plays throughout the night. Although this event is not as conventional as many events on campus, to many students, this is the highlight event of the semester, and it attracts many students that do not attend other on campus activities. In addition, we have expanded our range of tournaments, free plays, etc. to try to
attract more casual gamers and a more varied audience.
This semester, as with last semester, we will be in the Klaus building, for space, connectivity, and flexibility reasons. For Klaus, there are required building fees, which we did not apply for in our organizational budget, as our spring '07 event was held in the CCB, which does not have these fees (all gamefests in Klaus occurred after the 08-09 budget was due). SGA approved a bill for these fees in spring and fall of '08, which was instrumental in making the event a success. (We did apply for these fees in our budget application for 2009).
SGA's support in the past has been essential to helping make this event such a success. This semester, we will be working hard to collaborate with other organizations to increase publicity, and we believe that our increased public awareness, and our increase in activity, reasonable attendance expectations would be 450-600 people. All in all, we are confident that with your help, we can make this event another great success.

Joint Allocation to the Veritas Forum
Veritas Forums are university events that engage students and faculty in discussions about life's hardest questions. The forums are created by local university students, professors, and ministers while shaped and guided by the headquarter Veritas team. The Veritas Forum is a Christian organization that seeks to explore and exchange ideas and create discussion. Although Christian ideas are discussed and promoted in an academic setting, Veritas Forums do not consist of proselytizing or worship services.
The Veritas Forum @ Georgia Tech is planning an event on April 2nd entitled:
"A World Safe for Diversity - living with our deepest differences in a world of exploding pluralism"
w. Dr. Os Guinness, Author and Social Commentator.
The event will be based on his book "The Case for Civility" which presents a vision for a future public square where people can at the same time be honest about their deepest convictions, yet respect and coexist with those of differing opinions.
Our funding request is for the speaker honorarium, and a small portion of our marketing expenses.

Joint Allocation to Industrial Designers Society of America
Promotional Material
This is for advertising with in the program for the events leading up to conference: our exhibit design/build, tshirt printing party, conference display filming.
Registration
We want to sponsor our newly elected officers for next year, so that they can more easily attend the conference. It is important for them to attend Conference because a general brainstorming meeting is held between the board members of each of the student chapters. There, they discuss inter-university plans for the chapters and general goals for the next year.
Travel
By gaining funding for the students attending the Conference, we hope to ease the total financial burden for the students, which will include food & housing. The amount requested is based on over 50 expected students driving in cars from Atlanta to New Orleans (approx. 470 miles each way).

Joint Allocation to AIESEC Georgia Tech
The purpose of the conferences is to activate leadership in delegates so that they go and positively impact around an issue that they are passionate about. The conference in Bucharest is unique in that only the Presidents of local chapters can attend. It will thus be a useful networking opportunity for our President and she will be able to bring back a wealth of knowledge and educate the members at our chapter about the opportunities (through AIESEC of course) that exist for them around the world.
The organization has a budget that is provided for by SGA. We received $ 1555 this past year as budget from the Student Activity Fees. Recall that late last semester we successfully received funding from SGA for attending our National Conference where Tiffany Curtiss, a Tech student, was elected the National Member Committee President. However, provisions for international conferences are not made within the budget since cost and dates are variable. Our dues are $15 a semester.
There are several new members (2 are freshmen) attending the conference in Guatemala. Attendance at these international conferences, where people not only from that region but other parts of the world attend, is a good source of motivation for further involvement in the organization which would impact the student body at Tech.
